Sample interview questions
How would you build a lifecycle program for a new Consensys product with limited existing campaign infrastructure?

I would begin by mapping the core user journey and identifying key behavioral milestones, such as signup, first-value action, repeat use, and inactivity. I would define priority segments, establish event-tracking requirements with product and data teams, then launch a small set of high-impact triggered programs. I would use early results to prioritize an experimentation roadmap and scale the channels, messages, and journeys that demonstrate incremental lift.

Describe how you evaluate whether an A/B test has produced a meaningful lifecycle improvement.

I define a primary success metric tied to the journey stage, such as activation rate, feature adoption, retention, or conversion, along with guardrail metrics like unsubscribes or downstream engagement. Before launch, I set the hypothesis, audience, sample-size expectations, test duration, and decision criteria. Afterward, I assess statistical confidence, practical business impact, segment-level differences, and whether the result is reproducible before rolling out a winner.

How have you used customer data to personalize lifecycle communications?

I use behavioral, profile, and product-event data to create meaningful segments rather than relying only on broad demographics. For example, I may tailor onboarding based on a user's acquisition source, completed setup steps, feature usage, or engagement recency. I ensure each personalization rule serves a clear user need and measure incremental performance against a non-personalized control group.

How would you manage multiple lifecycle experiments that are at different stages of development?

I maintain a centralized roadmap that documents each experiment's objective, target segment, dependencies, owner, channel, launch date, and success criteria. I prioritize work using expected impact, confidence, effort, and strategic importance, while reserving capacity for urgent product launches. Regular reviews with creative, product, analytics, and engineering partners help surface blockers early and keep learnings visible across teams.

What would you do if a high-performing campaign increased short-term conversion but also caused higher opt-out rates?

I would treat the opt-out increase as a meaningful guardrail signal rather than declaring the campaign a success based only on conversion. I would analyze which audiences and message variants are driving the negative outcome, then test frequency caps, clearer value framing, narrower targeting, or alternative channels. The goal is sustainable user value and long-term retention, not a short-term lift that erodes trust.
