Sample interview questions
How have you maintained compliance with mortgage loan originator licensing requirements?

I maintain a compliance calendar for renewals, required continuing education, attestations, and documentation. I also monitor regulatory updates and keep records organized so that license status and supporting materials can be verified quickly.

What experience do you have with first-lien residential mortgage transactions?

I have supported and originated first-lien residential mortgage transactions throughout my lending career, ensuring that borrower documentation, disclosures, underwriting conditions, and licensing obligations were handled accurately and on time.

How would you manage the annual continuing-education requirement for a Utah Lending Manager license?

I would schedule the required education well before the renewal deadline, confirm that coursework meets Utah and NMLS requirements, retain completion evidence, and communicate completion status to the legal or compliance team.

Describe how you would communicate a licensing issue to a legal department.

I would provide a concise summary of the issue, relevant dates, affected license or jurisdiction, applicable requirements, risk assessment, and recommended next steps. I would preserve supporting documentation and escalate promptly when a deadline or compliance risk exists.

How do you ensure integrity and sound judgment when handling regulated lending responsibilities?

I follow written policies, validate information before acting, document decisions, and raise concerns early when facts are incomplete or a requirement may not be met. In a regulated environment, protecting consumers and maintaining licensure must take priority over shortcuts.
