Sample interview questions
How would you turn an ambiguous client workflow into implementable product requirements?

I would begin with a discovery session to understand the user goal, current process, systems involved, constraints, and success measures. I would map the workflow, identify decisions and edge cases, then convert the findings into prioritized user stories, acceptance criteria, and a lightweight prototype for validation.

Describe how you would validate an AI-agent workflow before a full implementation.

I would define the agent’s objective, inputs, outputs, guardrails, handoffs, and evaluation criteria. I would build a lightweight prototype using prompting or an agent framework, test representative and edge-case scenarios, collect stakeholder feedback, and document required configuration changes before scaling the solution.

How do you keep a client implementation moving when requirements are incomplete?

I would make assumptions explicit, identify the highest-risk unknowns, and propose a small testable next step rather than waiting for perfect information. I would maintain a decision log, clearly assign owners and deadlines, and communicate tradeoffs so the team can progress while unresolved items are tracked.

What information would you document during an implementation?

I would document the approved workflow, business rules, user roles, system inputs and outputs, configuration decisions, prompt or prototype versions, dependencies, edge cases, open questions, and acceptance criteria. This creates a reliable handoff for implementation teams and a feedback source for core product improvements.

How would you identify patterns worth sending back to the core product team?

I would look for repeated client requests, recurring manual workarounds, similar workflow constraints, and common configuration gaps across deployments. I would synthesize the pattern with supporting examples, affected users, frequency, business impact, and a proposed product opportunity so the product team can assess prioritization.

  • Experience level: Early career; approximately 1–2 years in an actual product management role (title must reflect genuine PM work, not project management relabeled).

  • AI nativeness: must be able to prototype using AI tooling (e.g., Claude Code, agent-building frameworks) and understand how agents are built and how data is passed between them.

  • Hands-on / vibe coding: Comfortable building prototypes through prompting and lightweight coding tools; not required to have a formal engineering background.

  • Problem-solving orientation: Primary skill is translating client problems into software configuration solutions within a constrained product space.

  • Client interaction readiness: Must be comfortable in workshops and cross-functional client sessions; does not need to lead the relationship.

  • Can create structure where none exists.

  • Strong judgment with incomplete information.

  • High ownership and bias to action.

  • More likely to write the playbook than wait for one.

  • Experience in product, business analysis, solutions consulting, forward-deployed, or implementation roles.

  • Comfortable with prototyping, prompting, and workflow design.

  • Likely from startup, SaaS, or technical services environments.

  • Focused on builders and operators close to delivery, rather than pure roadmap PMs.
