Sample interview questions
How would you keep PreK and kindergarten students engaged during an online math lesson?

I would use short, highly interactive activities that combine visuals, movement, repetition, and simple manipulatives students can access at home. I would vary the pace frequently, ask students to respond verbally or physically, and reinforce participation with specific positive feedback.

How do you adapt a math lesson for students with different readiness levels?

I begin with a clear learning objective and use quick checks for understanding throughout the lesson. For students who need support, I simplify the task and model the concept step by step; for advanced learners, I add extension questions that encourage reasoning and explanation.

What is your approach to communicating a child’s progress to parents?

I communicate consistently, respectfully, and with specific examples of what the student has learned, where they need support, and what families can practice at home. I keep the message constructive and actionable while inviting parents to share relevant observations or concerns.

How would you prepare for teaching a curriculum that is new to you?

I would review the lesson objectives, materials, examples, and expected student outcomes in advance. I would rehearse key explanations, anticipate misconceptions, prepare engagement activities, and use feedback from lead teachers and class outcomes to improve each session.

How do you manage a schedule that includes teaching, lesson preparation, trial lessons, grading, and parent updates?

I prioritize time-sensitive teaching commitments first and block dedicated time for preparation, grading, and communication. I use a consistent planning system to track student needs and deadlines, ensuring parents receive timely updates without compromising lesson quality.
