Sample interview questions
How would you keep a PreK or kindergarten student engaged during an online math lesson?

I would use short, varied activities that combine visuals, movement, counting objects, songs, and simple games. I would check for understanding often, celebrate participation, and adjust the pace when a child needs additional support or challenge.

How do you prepare a lesson from an established curriculum while adapting it for individual learners?

I begin by identifying the lesson objective and required curriculum components. Then I plan age-appropriate examples, hands-on or visual supports, and extension or review activities so that students at different readiness levels can participate successfully.

How would you communicate a child’s progress to parents?

I would provide concise, specific updates that describe what the child learned, what they did well, and one or two actionable next steps. I would use a positive, collaborative tone and invite parents to share observations or questions.

What would you do if a young student became distracted or disengaged during a live online class?

I would redirect the student warmly by involving them in a quick interactive task, such as finding an object to count or responding to a visual prompt. If needed, I would simplify the task, use a brief movement break, and reintroduce the objective in a more playful format.

How do you balance teaching hours with lesson preparation, grading, and parent communication?

I use a weekly schedule with dedicated preparation and follow-up blocks around live classes. I prioritize timely feedback, maintain reusable lesson resources, and document student progress after each class so parent communication remains accurate and efficient.
