Sample interview questions
How would you turn a complex AI product or research update into a blog post for a non-technical business audience?

I would first identify the audience's core question and the concrete change the update creates for them. I would interview the relevant experts, validate key claims and examples, then develop a clear narrative arc: problem, insight, practical implication, and evidence. I would use plain language, selective technical detail, and visual examples or data where they materially improve comprehension.

Describe how you establish and maintain an editorial voice across many contributors.

I begin by documenting a concise house style that covers audience, tone, structure, terminology, quality thresholds, and examples of strong and weak execution. I pair this guidance with an editorial workflow that includes clear briefs, substantive edits, copy edits, and feedback that explains the rationale. Over time, recurring coaching and calibrated examples help contributors apply the standards independently.

How do you preserve an expert's intent when significantly restructuring their draft?

Before editing, I clarify the author's central claim, intended audience, non-negotiable details, and evidence base. I may reorganize the argument for clarity, but I retain the author's expertise and verify factual or interpretive changes with them. I frame edits around the reader's needs and explain major changes so the collaboration builds trust.

What would your process be for writing keynote remarks for senior leadership?

I would start with the event objectives, audience, speaker voice, time limit, and desired takeaway. Through interviews and source review, I would find a distinctive central idea supported by credible stories, product examples, and a clear call to action. I would draft for spoken delivery, rehearse with the speaker, and refine wording, pacing, and transitions based on their natural style.

How would you decide which editorial ideas deserve investment when many teams request coverage?

I would evaluate ideas against strategic relevance, audience value, originality, evidence available, timeliness, and distribution potential. I would prioritize work that makes important company developments understandable while earning attention beyond existing users. A transparent editorial calendar and brief intake process would help balance planned narratives, launches, and genuinely newsworthy opportunities.

About the role

We’re looking for an entrepreneurial writer and editor to shape how ElevenLabs communicates in long form – from the blog to the stage. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with growth, research, engineering, product, partnerships and other teams to produce compelling content that engages and informs our most important audiences.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Owning the ElevenLabs blog – setting the editorial standard, writing new content, and editing draft posts from other teams.

  • Interviewing domain experts, mining data sets, and monitoring internal updates to unearth the best ideas and stories.

  • Making complex business and technical updates legible through clear writing and compelling visualizations.

  • Defining the house style and ensuring ElevenLabs maintains a consistent voice.

  • Writing keynotes and remarks for senior leadership that stick in the minds of audiences.

  • Managing a network of freelance writers and editors to scale output as needed.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer with a journalist’s instincts – someone who knows how to find the story, sharpen an argument, and explain why it matters. You have a strong editorial point of view and you excel at turning unstructured ideas and data into a compelling and accessible argument. You care deeply about craft and quality, and you’re motivated to help others improve their own work too.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A background in journalism, editorial, or long-form writing, ideally covering AI, tech, or audio.

  • Exceptional writing across different formats.

  • Strong editing skills and the ability to reshape others’ work while preserving their intent.

  • Strong instincts for distribution and a good understanding of how to shape writing to ensure it reaches and resonates with target audiences.

  • A track record of owning and improving editorial output, not just contributing to it.

  • Genuine curiosity about AI and an interest in helping the world understand what we’re building.

Location

This role is remote and can be executed globally. If you prefer, you can work from our offices in London, New York, Madrid, Warsaw and many more.
