Sample interview questions
I begin with structured history-taking tailored to the child’s age, symptoms, duration, severity, medical history, medications, and red-flag symptoms. I clearly identify the limitations of remote assessment, use evidence-based triage criteria, and direct the family to urgent or in-person care whenever the available information does not support safe remote management.
I would acknowledge the parent’s concern in plain, empathetic language, explain my clinical reasoning without jargon, and provide concise next steps. I would include specific, easy-to-recognize warning signs and a clear escalation plan, then confirm understanding by inviting questions or asking the parent to restate key instructions.
My decision would be based on clinical severity, diagnostic confidence, the child’s age and risk factors, local prescribing requirements, and whether a remote evaluation provides sufficient information. I would prescribe only when clinically appropriate and safe, refer for in-person assessment when examination or testing is needed, and establish time-bound follow-up for cases requiring monitoring.
I would maintain reliable availability during assigned coverage, use consistent triage and documentation practices, and prioritize cases by urgency. Clear handoffs, accurate notes, and adherence to escalation protocols are essential so that continuity and patient safety are maintained across shifts.
I use AI as a productivity and information-organization aid, not as a substitute for clinical judgment. For example, I may use approved tools to structure documentation or summarize non-sensitive workflow information, while independently validating outputs, protecting patient data, and ensuring every clinical decision follows professional standards and applicable policy.
