About this role.
Brafton seeks a remote freelance PPC specialist to manage and optimize Japanese-language Google Ads campaigns for likely B2B clients. The role combines bilingual ad-copy adaptation, Japanese-market keyword research, search-term analysis, campaign structuring, and performance reporting. The contractor will work asynchronously with English-speaking teams and should be able to translate local campaign insights into a global PPC framework. Candidates need professional Japanese and English fluency plus at least two to three years of paid-media experience; NAVER Ads and Korean language ability are optional advantages.

Sample interview questions
I would start with Japanese-native keyword research rather than direct translation, validating intent, search volume, device behavior, and competitor messaging. I would then adapt ad copy to local language conventions and buying expectations, build appropriately themed ad groups, and use Japanese search-term data to refine targeting and negative keywords.
I first confirm the conversion goals and data quality, then review asset-group performance, audience signals, product or service segmentation, and placement or search-category insights where available. I test creative and messaging systematically, monitor lead quality alongside volume, and share clear recommendations based on performance trends rather than making isolated changes.
I review queries by conversion outcomes, cost, relevance, and emerging intent patterns. I add irrelevant or low-value terms as negatives, identify high-intent queries for new keywords and ad groups, and use language patterns from converting searches to improve ad copy and landing-page alignment.
I would summarize the finding in plain English, explain the Japanese query or cultural context behind it, quantify the performance impact, and recommend a specific action. For example, I would show how a localized term differs in intent from its literal English translation and document the proposed keyword, copy, or targeting change.
I would include spend, impressions, clicks, CTR, CPC, conversions, conversion rate, CPA, and—where available—qualified-lead or revenue indicators. I would pair these with concise commentary on local search behavior, campaign changes, key wins or risks, and prioritized next steps so regional results remain comparable while retaining market context.
