Sample interview questions
I begin by mapping the applicable licensing, consumer-protection, data, marketing, and operational requirements for each market. I then prioritize risks by business impact, assign clear owners, and maintain an update process so regulatory changes translate into practical controls and decision points.
I clarify the commercial objectives and non-negotiable risk positions early, then identify the provisions with the highest legal and operational exposure, such as liability, compliance, IP, audit, data, termination, and change-in-law. I provide stakeholders with concise options so negotiations protect the business without unnecessarily delaying revenue opportunities.
Key areas include licensing and market-access obligations, responsible-gambling and consumer-protection requirements, game and product certification, AML-related obligations where applicable, data privacy, advertising restrictions, IP rights, and contractual allocation of regulatory responsibility with operators and partners.
I would quickly gather the relevant facts, identify the governing jurisdiction and immediate business impact, and provide a risk-based recommendation with clear assumptions. If certainty is not possible within the timeframe, I would recommend an interim compliant path, document the residual risk, and set a plan for deeper review or external advice.
I design governance around real decisions, accountability, escalation thresholds, and evidence of compliance. I use straightforward policies, approval matrices, training, and periodic reviews so leadership and operating teams can apply the framework consistently without creating unnecessary friction.
