The role leads platform design, infrastructure automation, deployment patterns, observability, and operational improvements across teams. It requires deep Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, cloud, CI/CD, security, distributed-systems, and systems-administration expertise. The engineer will mentor peers, establish engineering standards, and participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation. Elasticsearch scaling is strongly preferred, with Kafka, relational databases, Redis, and networking as additional advantages.

I use autoscaling, policy enforcement, observability, and tested upgrade processes to keep clusters reliable, while defining clear ownership and operational runbooks for application teams.
I would create reusable, versioned modules for common infrastructure and enforce peer-reviewed changes through CI pipelines. Adding automated validation, policy checks, drift detection, and promotion across environments makes changes repeatable, reduces manual configuration, and creates an auditable operational model.
I work with service owners to select user-centered indicators such as availability, latency, successful request rate, and freshness. I establish realistic SLOs, alert on meaningful burn rates rather than every symptom, and use error-budget performance to balance feature delivery with reliability investments.
I use least-privilege identities, protected secrets management, artifact provenance, dependency and image scanning, and gated deployments. I also integrate static and dynamic testing where appropriate, maintain immutable audit trails, and ensure that production changes require controlled approvals and automated validation.
I would first assess customer impact, stabilize the service through documented mitigation or rollback steps, and communicate status clearly to stakeholders. After recovery, I would lead a blameless review focused on evidence, root causes, missing signals, and prioritized corrective actions such as automation, alert tuning, capacity changes, or resilience testing.

We’re looking for an accomplished Staff DevOps Engineer to help shape and evolve our cloud, DevOps, and SRE platforms. In this role, you will design and implement the tools, automation, and infrastructure that support reliable, secure, and scalable service delivery across our environments. You will play a key role in improving platform reliability, operational efficiency, scalability, and consistency, working across teams to deliver resilient and well-governed solutions. Reporting to the Cloud DevOps Manager, you will also mentor other engineers and help drive best practice across cloud infrastructure, automation, CI/CD, and site reliability engineering.
What you’ll do
- Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing improvement of reliable, scalable, performant, and secure production platforms and services.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to build and maintain resilient infrastructure and deployment patterns.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers across the organisation, promoting strong engineering standards and operational best practice.
- Participate in a 24×7 on-call rotation to support critical services and ensure platform availability.
- Drive standardisation, automation, and documentation to improve consistency, reduce operational overhead, and support knowledge sharing.
- Contribute across the full lifecycle of platform and service delivery, from design and build through to operation and optimisation.
Essential skills and experience
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, platform engineering, or software engineering roles.
- Strong Kubernetes experience at scale, with deep understanding of containers and container orchestration.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet.
- Strong programming skills in at least one object-oriented language, along with effective scripting and automation capability.
- Strong understanding of security principles and best practices across infrastructure, platforms, and services.
- Significant hands-on experience in at least one major cloud platform, with broad exposure across AWS, GCP, or OCI.
- Strong monitoring, alerting, and observability experience using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or similar platforms.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and distributed systems.
- Strong Linux and/or Windows systems administration experience.
- Experience with software delivery automation, CI/CD pipelines, and secure SDLC practices, including exposure to static and dynamic security testing.
- Good understanding of SRE concepts such as SLIs, SLOs, SLAs, toil reduction, availability, and observability.
- Experience managing and scaling Elasticsearch in production is strongly preferred.
