Sample interview questions
How would you structure a technical discovery session for an enterprise prospect evaluating Chainguard?

I would first align with the account team on the business objective, stakeholders, and qualification criteria. In the session, I would explore the prospect's software supply-chain workflow, container estate, security and compliance requirements, current risks, and success metrics. I would then map the relevant Chainguard capabilities to those priorities and agree on a measurable next step, such as a focused proof of value.

Describe how you would run a proof of concept for a container-security solution.

I would define a documented hypothesis, scope, timeline, technical owners, and objective success criteria before provisioning access. I would use representative workloads and integrations, demonstrate the required security and operational outcomes, hold regular checkpoints, and capture evidence against the agreed criteria. At the end, I would present technical results and business impact with the customer and account team to establish a clear path to purchase.

How do Kubernetes and container technologies influence a customer's security posture?

Containers improve consistency but introduce supply-chain, image provenance, dependency, runtime, and configuration risks. Kubernetes also expands the attack surface through identity, network policies, secrets, workload permissions, and cluster configuration. I would explain how trusted, minimal, continuously maintained images and sound deployment controls reduce exposure while fitting into the customer's existing CI/CD workflow.

How do you handle a customer request for a feature that is not currently available?

I clarify the underlying business and technical requirement, quantify its impact on the evaluation, and determine whether an existing workflow, integration, or configuration can meet the need. If not, I communicate transparently, involve product and engineering with a well-defined use case, and avoid making unapproved commitments. I keep the customer informed while preserving momentum around the value that can be delivered today.

How have you used MEDDPICC or Command of the Message in a technical sales cycle?

I use these frameworks to make sure technical activity supports a qualified commercial outcome rather than becoming an open-ended evaluation. For example, I validate measurable business impact, identify technical and executive decision criteria, understand the buying process, and develop a technical champion through successful demonstrations and POVs. This helps prioritize the right opportunities and tailor technical validation to the customer's decision process.
