Sample interview questions
How would you develop a product strategy for ChargePoint's European truck, bus, and van fleet segment?

I would segment customers by vehicle type, duty cycle, depot versus en-route charging needs, energy constraints, and buying model. I would combine customer discovery, regulatory analysis, competitive assessment, and unit economics to prioritize the highest-value problems, then translate the findings into a sequenced hardware, software, and services roadmap with measurable commercial and adoption outcomes.

Describe how you would balance a fleet customer's hardware, software, and energy-management requirements in one product experience.

I would start with end-to-end fleet workflows, from site planning and charger selection through commissioning, operations, billing, maintenance, and energy optimization. I would define shared customer outcomes and product metrics across the components, clarify platform interfaces and ownership, and prioritize integrated experiences over disconnected feature delivery.

How do you make pricing and packaging decisions for a complex B2B product portfolio?

I evaluate customer willingness to pay, quantified value creation, competitor positioning, cost-to-serve, sales motion, and margin requirements. I test packaging hypotheses with customers and commercial teams, establish clear entitlements and upgrade paths, and monitor conversion, attach rate, retention, discounting, and gross margin after launch.

Tell us about your approach to evaluating a build, buy, or partner decision with an OEM or technology provider.

I first define the strategic capability, customer impact, time-to-market need, and differentiation value. I then compare internal development, acquisition, and partnership options using total cost, integration risk, IP control, operational scalability, and partner incentives, ultimately recommending the option that best advances the roadmap and business case.

How would you create alignment when engineering, sales, and executive leaders disagree on a fleet product priority?

I would make the decision criteria explicit, using customer evidence, strategic fit, revenue potential, technical effort, risk, and opportunity cost. I would communicate the trade-offs in a concise narrative, facilitate a decision forum with accountable owners, document the outcome, and maintain transparent follow-up metrics so stakeholders can see whether the choice is delivering the intended result.
