Sample interview questions
Describe a pricing or yield-management strategy you developed that materially improved revenue or margin.

I would explain the business context, the data and constraints considered, the pricing decisions implemented, and the measurable impact on revenue, fill rate, margin, or customer outcomes. I would also describe how I monitored performance and refined the approach.

How would you design pricing logic for a new biddable auction environment?

I would start by defining marketplace objectives, participant incentives, inventory characteristics, and success metrics. I would then test auction mechanics, reserve-price approaches, pacing controls, and quality signals through simulations and controlled experiments before scaling the model.

How do you balance short-term revenue optimization with long-term marketplace health?

I use a balanced scorecard that includes revenue alongside fill rate, buyer outcomes, inventory quality, retention, and user experience. This helps avoid decisions that maximize immediate yield but weaken trust, demand, or sustainable platform liquidity.

Tell us about a time you influenced pricing decisions across sales, product, and finance teams with competing priorities.

I would align stakeholders around shared objectives and make trade-offs explicit through transparent analysis. I would use scenario modeling, document decision criteria, and establish a regular operating cadence so teams can evaluate results and adjust together.

What analytical frameworks would you build to make pricing decisions scalable?

I would build standardized dashboards and models for demand, supply, conversion, inventory utilization, price realization, and forecast accuracy. I would also define clear segmentation, experiment design, and governance processes so recommendations are repeatable and auditable.
