Sample interview questions
How do you build a self-sourced pipeline in a defined field territory?

I segment the territory by ideal-customer criteria, build targeted prospect lists, and use a consistent mix of calls, emails, walk-ins, referrals, and follow-up sequences. I track activity and conversion metrics in the CRM so I can prioritize the segments and messages producing the strongest qualified opportunities.

How would you run a discovery conversation with a restaurant owner?

I would begin by understanding their operating model, service flow, current systems, pain points, growth plans, and decision process. I would then connect the product demonstration to the operational and commercial outcomes they care about, rather than presenting generic features.

Describe how you handle objections from a prospect who is reluctant to change their current system.

I acknowledge the disruption concern and ask questions to isolate whether the issue is cost, implementation risk, training, or confidence in the value. I then use relevant examples, a clear implementation plan, and quantified business impact to reduce risk while agreeing on a practical next step.

How do you maintain accurate Salesforce data while spending most days in the field?

I log meaningful interactions immediately after meetings or reserve structured time at the end of each day for updates. I keep next steps, close dates, stakeholders, and qualification details current so that my forecast is reliable and internal teams have the context needed to support the deal.

What would you do to consistently exceed a new-business sales target?

I would work backwards from the target to establish pipeline coverage, conversion assumptions, and weekly activity goals. I would review performance regularly, increase prospecting before pipeline gaps become urgent, focus time on high-probability opportunities, and seek coaching on deals where I see recurring obstacles.
