Sample interview questions
How would you manage a client event travel program from post-sale setup through final billing?

I would begin by documenting the client’s objectives, traveler profile, budget parameters, approval process, and success measures. I would build a detailed project plan covering booking milestones, supplier coordination, traveler communications, reporting, and escalation paths. Throughout the program, I would maintain accurate documentation and provide regular status updates, then reconcile final travel activity and billing against the agreed scope.

Describe how you would handle a major flight disruption affecting multiple event attendees shortly before departure.

I would first identify the affected travelers, ticket conditions, urgency, and available alternate options in the GDS. I would prioritize solutions based on event-critical arrival times, traveler needs, and client policy, then communicate concise options and recommendations to the appropriate contacts. I would document actions, monitor rebooking confirmations, and remain available until the disruption is resolved or a clear contingency plan is in place.

What steps do you take to ensure accuracy when building PNRs and issuing tickets in Sabre?

I verify traveler names against identification, confirm itinerary segments and connection times, validate fare rules and ticketing deadlines, and ensure all required contact, loyalty, and service information is included. Before ticketing, I review the PNR for duplicate or conflicting segments and confirm that the fare aligns with policy and client expectations. After issuance, I validate ticket numbers and itinerary details and clearly communicate the final confirmation to the traveler or client.

How do you balance urgent traveler requests with long-term event project responsibilities?

I triage requests by traveler impact, time sensitivity, and business risk, addressing immediate disruptions first while communicating realistic timelines for lower-priority work. I use task tracking and clear documentation to protect key project milestones from being missed. When volume is high, I proactively update stakeholders and involve team members or leads early when escalation or coverage is needed.

How would you build and maintain a strong relationship with a client contact and their account team?

I would establish expectations early regarding communication cadence, decision makers, program goals, and escalation procedures. I would bring proactive insights, such as booking trends, traveler issues, policy opportunities, and risks, rather than only responding to requests. Consistent follow-through, transparent updates, and ownership of problems are essential to building trust with both client stakeholders and internal account partners.
