Sample interview questions
How would you test a new feature when the requirements are incomplete?

I would review the available requirements and acceptance criteria, identify assumptions and gaps, and clarify them with the product owner or senior QA analyst. I would then create happy-path, negative, boundary, and integration test cases aligned to the confirmed business goal.

What information should a useful bug report contain?

A useful report includes a clear title, environment, prerequisites, reproducible steps, expected and actual results, severity or priority, and supporting evidence such as screenshots, logs, request-response data, or videos. This enables developers to reproduce and resolve the issue efficiently.

How would you validate a REST API response in Postman?

I would verify the HTTP status code, response time, headers, response schema, required fields, field types, and business values. I would also test invalid inputs, authentication behavior, boundary values, and error responses, comparing results with the API specification.

What is regression testing, and when would you perform it?

Regression testing confirms that new changes or defect fixes have not unintentionally broken existing functionality. I would run relevant regression tests after a fix, before a release, and whenever changes affect shared workflows or integrations.

How do you prioritize test cases when time is limited?

I prioritize tests for critical user workflows, high-risk areas, recent code changes, integrations, historical defect areas, and functionality with significant business impact. I would communicate any coverage tradeoffs and document what remains untested.
