Sample interview questions
How would you create a unified strategy across artist tools, label products, promotion, discovery, and insights?

I would begin with a shared ecosystem map covering artist, label, listener, and Spotify needs, then identify the highest-leverage journeys and dependencies across products. I would establish a small set of portfolio-level outcomes, such as creator success, content quality, audience growth, and sustainable business impact, and use these to prioritize investments and resolve trade-offs.

Describe how you have led managers and senior product leaders through a major strategic change.

I align leaders on the reason for change, the desired outcomes, decision rights, and measurable milestones before asking teams to adjust execution. I provide managers with clear operating mechanisms, coaching, and regular feedback while ensuring they retain ownership of their areas rather than centralizing every decision.

How would you balance the sometimes competing needs of artists, labels, listeners, and Spotify?

I would make the trade-offs explicit through a common decision framework that considers user value, ecosystem health, commercial impact, risk, and implementation cost. I would validate assumptions with qualitative research and product data, communicate the rationale clearly, and revisit decisions as results and market conditions evolve.

What is your approach to incorporating AI into a product organization?

I focus first on concrete user or team problems where AI can improve speed, quality, learning, or decision-making. I would establish responsible experimentation standards, evaluate quality and trust alongside efficiency, and scale only the workflows that demonstrate durable value for creators, internal teams, and the business.

How do you prioritize resources across a complex product portfolio?

I use a transparent portfolio process that connects investments to strategic outcomes, expected impact, confidence, effort, and key dependencies. I protect capacity for foundational work and risk reduction while regularly reallocating resources when evidence shows that an initiative is not delivering the intended results.
