Sample interview questions
I would clarify the brand objectives, audience, technical constraints, and approval process first. I would develop strategically distinct concepts tied to the program promise, present rationale and trade-offs, then refine the selected direction into a system that works across card, wallet, and app surfaces. Before release, I would validate mechanical specifications, color, materials, security requirements, and printer proofs with all relevant stakeholders.
I set clear quality standards, assign ownership based on each designer's strengths and development goals, and establish regular critique sessions. I stay close to pivotal creative decisions and complex production work without taking work away from the team. This creates accountability while ensuring designers receive actionable coaching and room to grow.
I begin by listening for the underlying concern rather than treating feedback as a binary preference. I explain the recommendation through the agreed goals, audience needs, brand principles, production constraints, and likely customer impact, using visual comparisons where helpful. If the client direction remains viable, I incorporate it while clearly documenting any trade-offs and protecting essential brand and usability requirements.
I use documented specifications, preflight checklists, version control, appropriately prepared source files, and early communication with the printer. I verify dimensions, bleed, color profiles, spot colors, typography, imagery, layers, and finishing requirements before release. I also treat proofs and press checks as critical quality gates and ensure decisions are recorded for the full program team.
I would define the core visual and verbal principles of the program, then test how they translate across the physical card, wallet display, app interfaces, onboarding, and supporting communications. The card should be recognizable and premium on its own while reinforcing the same brand promise and hierarchy in digital contexts. I would create reusable guidance and review touchpoints so every channel remains consistent as the program evolves.
About this role.
Who We Are
Imprint helps the world’s best brands grow the lifetime value of their customers. We started with co-branded credit cards and rebuilt them to be smarter, more rewarding, and brand-first. We partner with companies like Crate & Barrel, Rakuten, Booking.com, H-E-B, Fetch, and Shell to launch modern credit programs that deepen loyalty, unlock savings, and drive growth. We combine advanced payments infrastructure, intelligent underwriting, and deep customer data to create delightful and personalized experiences for members as well as efficient and profitable relationships for our brand partners. Our robust technology and world-class operations allow us and our brand partners to offer powerful financial products without becoming a bank.
In the U.S., co-branded cards alone account for over $300 billion in annual spend, and most still run on decades-old legacy bank systems.
