Sample interview questions
I maintain visibility into lead times, inventory levels, supplier capacity, and single-source exposure. When risk appears, I prioritize alternate-source qualification, expedite options, engineering alignment, and clear communication of impact and recovery plans.
I compare unit price, tooling, MOQ, lead time, payment terms, quality capability, logistics, and total landed cost. I also validate that the supplier understands the drawing, specifications, revision level, and expected production ramp before making a recommendation.
I would create a component-level readiness tracker covering demand, approved suppliers, POs, lead times, inventory, open risks, and delivery dates. I would review critical-path items routinely with engineering, manufacturing, and program stakeholders and escalate gaps early.
I would track PO on-time delivery, supplier quality and non-conformance rates, material availability, purchase price variance, cost-down savings, lead-time accuracy, inventory days on hand, and clear-to-build status for planned builds.
I first verify the PO, receipt, pricing, and contractual terms in the ERP system. I then work directly with the supplier to identify the root cause, agree on corrective actions and timing, document the resolution, and coordinate internally to minimize production impact.
