Sample interview questions
How have you managed statutory reporting across multiple international entities and jurisdictions?

I establish an entity-by-entity compliance calendar, assign clear owners for preparation and review, and work closely with local advisors and auditors. I monitor progress against filing deadlines, resolve technical issues early, and standardize reporting packages where local requirements permit.

Describe your approach to US GAAP-to-local-GAAP or IFRS adjustments.

I begin with a documented mapping of key accounting-policy differences, then maintain repeatable adjustment schedules supported by reconciliations and review controls. I involve local specialists for jurisdiction-specific matters and ensure conclusions are aligned with group consolidation and audit requirements.

What is your experience with foreign-currency accounting under ASC 830?

I have assessed functional currency based on the underlying economic environment and implemented processes for remeasurement, translation, and CTA tracking. My approach includes clear documentation, monthly reconciliation of balance-sheet exposures, and coordination with Treasury and consolidation teams.

How would you build an ESG reporting process for an organization preparing for CSRD?

I would start with a gap assessment covering reporting scope, available data, materiality, ownership, and controls. From there, I would create a cross-functional governance model, define data-quality requirements and evidence standards, and phase implementation so reporting can withstand future assurance expectations.

How do you improve control quality while maintaining an efficient close process?

I focus controls on the highest-risk judgments and transactions, automate recurring reconciliations where possible, and define clear evidence and review expectations. I also use close retrospectives and root-cause analysis to remove manual friction without weakening accountability or auditability.
