Sample interview questions
I first identify claim structure, defined terms, and technical terminology, then create or validate a terminology base before translating. I preserve terminology consistently across claims and descriptions, verify scientific context, and perform a final review focused on legal meaning, completeness, and readability.
I have worked with technical documents where accuracy of biological processes, compounds, methods, and experimental terminology is essential. My review process includes checking source-target completeness, terminology consistency, numerical data, references, and claim dependencies.
I would research authoritative sources, existing client terminology, and relevant patent usage before proposing a solution. If no established equivalent exists, I would use a clear, contextually accurate formulation and flag it for client or linguistic validation when required.
I use translation memory and termbases as controlled resources rather than accepting matches uncritically. I run QA checks for numbers, tags, repetitions, and terminology, then review the final text in context to ensure fluency and patent-style consistency.
I assess scope, subject complexity, available references, and QA time before confirming a deadline. I communicate early about risks or questions, maintain a structured workflow, and reserve time for final proofreading so that delivery is both timely and accurate.
