Sample interview questions
Can you describe your experience in building a sourcing function from scratch in a new region?

I have experience launching sourcing operations in Eastern Europe for a home goods company. I started by mapping potential suppliers, conducting audits, and negotiating terms. Within a year, I established a network of 10 vendors that met our quality and cost targets.

How do you evaluate and select new vendor partners?

I use a multi-step process: initial research on capabilities and reputation, factory audits for quality and compliance, sample evaluation, and pilot orders. I also assess financial stability and capacity for scaling.

What is your approach to negotiating pricing and lead times with suppliers?

I aim for win-win partnerships by understanding the supplier's cost structure and constraints. I negotiate based on volume commitments, long-term relationships, and flexibility. For lead times, I balance cost with speed and reliability.

Can you provide an example of a time you managed a supply chain disruption?

During the pandemic, one of our key fabric suppliers shut down. I quickly identified alternative sources in Turkey and Portugal, expedited sample approvals, and adjusted production schedules to minimize delays. We maintained 95% on-time delivery.

How do you stay updated on trends and innovations in home textiles?

I attend industry trade shows like Heimtextil, subscribe to trade publications, and maintain a network of experts. I also analyze market data and consumer preferences to anticipate shifts in demand.
