Key Skills

Solutions Architecture Pre-sales Team Leadership Cloud Infrastructure Open Source Developer Relations Sales Strategy Technical Discovery Cross-functional Collaboration Customer Success

I am excited to apply for the Senior Manager, Solutions Architecture - Growth role at Temporal. With over 5 years of experience in solutions architecture and a proven track record of leading high-performing pre-sales teams, I am confident in my ability to drive technical excellence and customer success.

At my previous company, I built and scaled a team of Solutions Architects, establishing processes for technical discovery and proof-of-value engagements that consistently exceeded revenue targets. My deep understanding of developer infrastructure and open-source technologies aligns perfectly with Temporal's mission.

I am particularly drawn to Temporal's focus on improving developer experience and its open-source community. I look forward to leveraging my leadership skills to coach and develop a team that articulates the value of Temporal Cloud effectively.

Thank you for considering my application. I am eager to contribute to Temporal's growth and would welcome the opportunity to discuss how my experience aligns with your needs.

Describe your experience leading a team of Solutions Architects. How did you set performance expectations and coach your team?
In my previous role, I led a team of 8 Solutions Architects. I set clear performance metrics based on technical win rates, pipeline contribution, and customer satisfaction. I held weekly 1:1s, provided regular feedback, and created career development plans. I also implemented a peer review system for technical demos to ensure consistency and high quality.
How do you prioritize which opportunities your team focuses on?
I use a combination of deal size, strategic importance, and likelihood to close. I work closely with sales leadership to align on key accounts and ensure we balance pipeline coverage with deep technical engagement on high-value deals. I also consider the team's capacity and skill sets to assign resources effectively.
Can you walk me through how you would handle a complex technical discovery with a potential enterprise customer?
I would start by understanding the customer's business goals and technical challenges. Then, I would conduct a structured discovery session to identify use cases where Temporal adds value. I would involve my team's expertise to map their architecture and assess fit. Finally, I would propose a proof-of-value with clear success criteria.
How do you stay updated on the technical aspects of Temporal's platform and communicate its value to customers?
I regularly review product roadmaps, attend engineering demos, and build small proof-of-concept projects to stay hands-on. I also encourage my team to share learnings. When communicating value, I focus on how Temporal simplifies complex workflows and improves developer productivity, using concrete examples.
Describe a time you had to escalate a customer issue to product or engineering. How did you handle it?
I had a customer who needed a feature that was not on the roadmap. I documented their use case, quantified the business impact, and presented it to the product team. I also set expectations with the customer and provided a workaround. The feature was eventually prioritized, strengthening our relationship.

  • Strategic Prioritization: You have a sharp sense of where to invest the team’s time and energy—which deals to go deep on, which to qualify out, and how to balance long-term relationships with near-term pipeline.
  • Curious & Adaptive: You’re naturally curious about technology and business alike. You learn quickly, stay current, and bring a growth mindset to everything you do.
  • Communication Excellence: You can translate complex technical concepts for executive audiences and dive deep with engineering teams with equal ease.
  • Coaching Mindset: You invest in the growth of your people—through structured feedback, deal reviews, and hands-on mentorship—because you know that’s how teams scale.
