Key Skills

Quality Assurance Software Testing Health IT 508 Compliance EPLC Automated Testing Quality Control Clearance SDLC NIH

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to express my interest in the Quality Assurance Specialist position with ECS supporting the NIH NIAID NEAT contract. With over five years of experience in Health IT software development and a proven track record in establishing quality control processes, I am confident in my ability to ensure the highest standards for your enterprise applications.

My background includes implementing automated testing tools, conducting formal and informal reviews, and ensuring compliance with HHS EPLC and 508 standards. I hold an active Public Trust clearance and am based in the Washington DC Metro area, ready to support this critical initiative.

I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how my skills can contribute to the success of the NEAT program. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Can you describe your experience with automated testing tools and how you have implemented them in a previous role?
In my last position, I used Selenium to automate regression tests for a healthcare application, which reduced testing time by 30% and improved coverage. I also integrated it with Jenkins for continuous testing.
How do you ensure compliance with 508 accessibility standards during the software development lifecycle?
I incorporate accessibility checks early in the design phase, use tools like Axe for automated scans, and conduct manual testing with screen readers. I also work closely with developers to remediate issues.
Describe a time you identified a critical quality issue and how you handled it.
During a release cycle, I found a performance bug that could have impacted data integrity. I immediately flagged it, documented the issue, and collaborated with the team to prioritize a fix, delaying release by one day but ensuring quality.
What is your approach to developing quality metrics and scoring parameters?
I start by understanding business requirements and risk areas. Then I define metrics like defect density, test coverage, and pass rates. I set thresholds based on historical data and stakeholder input, and adjust as needed.
How do you handle communication with non-technical stakeholders regarding quality issues?
I translate technical issues into business impact, using simple language and visual aids like charts. I focus on risks and mitigation strategies, ensuring stakeholders understand the trade-offs between quality and schedule.
