Cover letter sample

I am writing to express my strong interest in the Head of Marketing position at Seobility, as advertised. With over 10 years of experience in growth marketing and a proven track record in product-led growth for SaaS companies, I am excited about the opportunity to lead Seobility's next growth chapter. I have deep SEO expertise and am fluent in AI-native workflows, automating processes to drive efficiency.

In my previous role, I successfully diversified traffic sources beyond Google organic, launched new channels, and built strategic partnerships that increased MRR by 40%. I thrive in environments where I can take full ownership of strategy and execution, and I am skilled at leading senior teams with both high standards and empathy.

I am particularly drawn to Seobility's strong market credibility and its 800,000+ user base, which presents a solid foundation for sustainable growth. I am confident that my combination of strategic thinking, technical fluency, and leadership discipline would allow me to make an immediate impact.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the possibility of discussing how I can contribute to Seobility's success.

Sample interview questions
Can you describe a time when you successfully diversified traffic sources for a product heavily reliant on Google organic?

At my previous company, we were 80% dependent on Google organic. I led a strategy to build a strong content marketing program with video and podcast channels, launched a referral program, and formed partnerships with complementary tools. Within 6 months, organic share dropped to 60% while total traffic grew 30%.

How would you approach leading a team of senior marketers who may have strong opinions on strategy?

I believe in fostering an environment where debate is encouraged but decisions are made based on data and priorities. I would start by understanding each team member's strengths and goals, then establish clear objectives aligned with company targets. Regular check-ins and transparent prioritization help maintain alignment while empowering them to execute.

What does 'AI-native' mean to you in a marketing context, and can you give an example of how you've used AI to drive growth?

AI-native means integrating AI into the core workflow, not as an add-on. For example, I built an automated content personalization system using LLMs to tailor email sequences based on user behavior, resulting in a 25% increase in activation rates. I routinely use AI for competitor analysis, copywriting, and A/B testing automation.

How would you prioritize between launching multiple new growth channels?

I would start by analyzing potential channels for their alignment with our audience, scalability, and cost. I'd use a weighted scoring model based on impact (e.g., traffic potential, conversion rate) and effort (time, budget). Then I'd run small experiments (e.g., test with $5k budget) on the top two to validate before full investment.

Describe your experience with product-led growth and how you've turned feature launches into measurable acquisition.

At my last role, we launched a free tier with limited features. I worked with product to identify which features drove upgrades, then built a lead magnet around a specific feature (e.g., a free SEO audit tool) that required sign-up. This generated 10k new users in 3 months, with 15% converting to paid within 90 days.

Seobility has been empowering the SEO scene with its all-in-one software, helping website owners and marketers worldwide boost their website rankings. Starting off in 2013 with a small but formidable team, Seobility now has over 800,000 users and earned international awards along the way!

Profile Overview

We’re looking for a hands-on Head of Marketing to lead Seobility’s next growth chapter, owning our go-to-market and product-led-growth strategy, and building durable growth beyond our Google-organic base.

You will lead a small, talented in-house team with access to further strategic and execution support from saas.group’s central marketing team, with further expertise across disciplines like SEO.

You will take full ownership of how we grow MRR, build our brand presence, and take our product to our existing and new users.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a product with deep market credibility and 800,000+ users and have a real impact on its next growth chapter.

Your immediate impact in the first 3–6 months will be:

  • Audit the current marketing stack, channels, and budget allocation and present a prioritised plan to grow organic traffic sources beyond our strong Google presence.
  • Establish yourself as a trusted leader for the team, with working rhythms and clear ownership across the function.
  • Launch at least one new growth channel or partnership initiative that opens up a sustainable traffic or acquisition source.
  • Take ownership of the go-to-market for upcoming feature launches and turn it into measurable acquisition or activation.
  • Set direction for durable, diversified growth – new acquisition that holds up – not one-off spikes or vanity reach.

Your Responsibilities

  • Own the full marketing strategy for Seobility — all channels, with accountability for results and budget (yearly six-figure PPC spend, freelancers, and project investments).
  • Own product-led and diversified growth: build sustained acquisition sources beyond our Google-organic base, turn feature launches into measurable acquisition and activation.
  • Lead and develop a team of 2–3 mostly senior marketers — strategic direction, coaching, clear priorities, and planning that keeps delivery on track.
  • Think marketing AI-native, with tools, automations, and agentic workflows at the heart of research, production and shipping, as well as communication with our users.
  • Build ecosystem partnerships that expand Seobility’s reach and brand authority.
  • Champion Seobility’s presence in the SEO community, thought leadership, and creator/channel strategy ideally including video content.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Generalist growth marketing background: you connect the dots across channels and data, find creative angles, and make things happen without waiting for perfect conditions.
  • SEO expertise: deep enough to lead strategy for a product in the SEO tool space, navigate the market with authority, and credibly represent us to the SEO community and our users.
  • AI-native builder: you routinely use AI to work and to build — tools, automations, prototypes — with enough technical fluency (HTML, CSS, APIs, webhooks) to ship a lead magnet or landing page without waiting for engineering.
  • Leadership with execution discipline: you lead senior people with high standards and empathy in equal measure — and you turn strategy into goal-linked plans that ship: structured planning, clear scope, and accountability in execution that keeps momentum past kickoff.
  • Strong communicator & relationship builder: you win people over — opening doors, negotiating and growing ecosystem partnerships, representing Seobility credibly and authentically in public, and sparring with the team on strategy — all in excellent English (written and verbal).
  • Budget ownership experience: you have managed significant monthly marketing budgets and can prioritise for business impact.

Bonus Points

  • Your own channel, audience, or on-camera experience to boost creator-led growth
  • German (we have a strong DACH presence).
  • Product-marketing experience with freemium models and upsell triggers.

What’s in it for You

  • Flexibility: We’re remote first with an optional small office in Nuremberg. You can work from anywhere, as long as your working time substantially overlaps with CET.
  • Freedom and autonomy: We’re a high-trust team, and you’ll be given lots of flexibility to drive growth and tackle challenges in your own way, with plenty of help from the team when you need it.
  • Minimum bureaucracy: We don’t like to get bogged down with meetings and red tape. We like to be efficient and keep momentum steady & sustainable.
  • Small & friendly team: We help each other out, have fun, and look out for each other.
  • Our network: We are a community of entrepreneurial SaaS professionals that regularly exchange ideas, knowledge, learning, and expertise with each other internally.
