Dear Hiring Manager,

I am excited to apply for the QA Engineer position at Workwize. With over 4 years of experience in quality assurance and automation testing, I have developed a strong expertise in Cypress, Playwright, and API testing using Postman. I am passionate about driving a shift-left testing culture and ensuring high-quality software delivery through collaboration and continuous improvement.

In my previous role, I successfully implemented automated end-to-end tests that reduced regression time by 40% and improved overall product reliability. I am confident that my skills in Laravel, React, and CI/CD pipelines will allow me to contribute effectively to your team.

I am particularly drawn to Workwize's mission of simplifying IT equipment management for global teams, and I would love to help enhance the quality of your platform. Thank you for considering my application.

Sincerely, [Your Name]

Can you describe your experience with shift-left testing and how you've implemented it in your previous roles?
Shift-left testing involves integrating quality early in the SDLC. In my last role, I collaborated with developers during design phases to identify test cases, introduced unit test coverage requirements, and automated API tests before feature completion. This reduced defects by 30% and accelerated release cycles.
How do you prioritize which test cases to automate?
I focus on high-value, repetitive, and critical paths that are prone to regression. I also consider business impact and frequency of use. I use a risk-based approach, automating smoke tests, core user flows, and integration points first, while leaving edge cases for manual testing if automation ROI is low.
Explain how you would test an API endpoint that returns a list of devices. What tools and techniques would you use?
I would use Postman to validate the endpoint with various query parameters, checking status codes, response structure, and data accuracy. I'd write automated tests in JavaScript using Playwright or Cypress to simulate real user scenarios. I'd also test for negative cases like invalid tokens, and performance using load testing tools.
Describe a time you found a critical bug late in the development cycle. How did you handle it?
During regression testing, I discovered a data inconsistency in the billing module. I immediately communicated with the product owner and developers, documented the bug with steps to reproduce, and proposed a hotfix. We prioritized it, and I helped write an automated test to prevent recurrence. The release was delayed by a day, but quality was maintained.
How do you stay updated with the latest testing tools and practices?
I follow QA communities like Ministry of Testing, attend webinars, and experiment with new tools in side projects. I regularly read blogs on automation frameworks and CI/CD improvements. Recently, I transitioned from Selenium to Playwright because of its better performance and built-in waiting mechanisms.
