I am excited to apply for the Lead Platform Engineer (Azure) role at Launchpad Technologies. With over 6 years of experience in DevOps and cloud engineering, including 3 years in lead positions, I have successfully migrated production environments to Azure and built scalable platforms using Terraform and Bicep.

In my previous role, I led the migration of 50+ workloads into a new Azure subscription structure with zero downtime, establishing governance through RBAC and policies. I am passionate about designing resilient architectures and mentoring engineering teams to adopt best practices.

My hands-on experience with Azure services like Functions, App Services, Event Grid, and Azure DevOps aligns perfectly with your requirements. I am also certified in AZ-305 and familiar with the Cloud Adoption Framework, which I can leverage to drive platform excellence from day one.

I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to your client’s iconic travel experience and help shape the future of their cloud platform. Thank you for considering my application.

Describe a complex Azure migration you led. How did you ensure minimal downtime?
I led the migration of a legacy .NET application from on-premises to Azure using a blue-green deployment strategy. We used Azure Traffic Manager to shift traffic gradually, and Azure Site Recovery for replication. The migration was completed over a weekend with only 2 hours of read-only downtime.
How do you approach infrastructure as code at scale across multiple subscriptions?
I use a modular Terraform approach with remote state in Azure Storage. Each subscription has a root module that calls reusable modules for networking, compute, and security. We enforce policies using Azure Policy and manage RBAC through Terraform, ensuring consistency and compliance.
Can you explain how you would set up observability for a new Azure platform?
I would enable Azure Monitor for all resources, configure Application Insights for application telemetry, and set up Log Analytics workspaces to centralize logs. Key metrics and logs would trigger alerts via Action Groups, and I'd create dashboards in Azure Workbooks for real-time visibility.
How do you handle cost optimization in Azure while maintaining performance?
I start by right-sizing resources using Azure Advisor recommendations, implement auto-scaling for VMs and App Services, and use reservations or savings plans for predictable workloads. I also set budgets and alerts to monitor spend, and regularly review resource usage to identify waste.
Tell us about a time you mentored junior engineers in cloud best practices.
I established a weekly Cloud Guild meeting where team members could discuss challenges and learnings. I also created a set of internal documentation and coding standards for Terraform and CI/CD pipelines. Within six months, the team's deployment failure rate dropped by 40%.
