I am writing to express my strong interest in the Chief Medical Officer position at Abby Care. With a background in clinical practice and a passion for transforming care delivery, I am excited by your mission to empower family caregivers through an AI-native platform. I have extensive experience building evidence-based clinical programs and engaging with payors and regulators to drive adoption of innovative care models.

My work has focused on translating clinical outcomes into compelling narratives that resonate with stakeholders, which aligns perfectly with your need for a clinical voice to shape the market. I am confident that my expertise in value-based care and thought leadership will help Abby Care establish family-led care as a standard in healthcare.

I look forward to discussing how I can contribute to your team and help build the future of home-based care.

How would you design a clinical outcomes program to demonstrate the effectiveness of family-led care?
I would start by identifying key metrics such as hospital readmission rates, patient satisfaction, and care quality. Partnering with analytics, we would prospectively collect data from a pilot cohort and compare against standard home care. I would then publish results in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences to build credibility.
Describe your experience engaging with payor CMOs and state regulators to win contracts or policy changes.
In my previous role, I led clinical discussions with several large payors to integrate our care model into their networks. I presented evidence on cost savings and outcomes, addressed clinical concerns, and navigated regulatory requirements by working closely with state Medicaid officials. This resulted in two new contracts and a favorable policy adjustment.
How do you balance the need for rigorous clinical evidence with the fast-paced nature of a startup?
I prioritize generating actionable insights quickly through pragmatic study designs like retrospective analyses and matched cohorts. I also establish a roadmap for long-term randomized trials that can be published over time. By focusing on high-impact publications early, we can build credibility without sacrificing speed.
What is your vision for the clinical narrative around family caregiving, and how would you differentiate Abby Care?
I see family caregiving as a clinically superior model when properly supported, not just a cost-saving measure. The narrative should emphasize better outcomes due to continuous, personalized care from a trusted family member. Abby Care differentiates by combining AI tools with clinical oversight to achieve outcomes that exceed traditional home care.
How would you handle a situation where payors are skeptical about the clinical validity of family-led care?
I would start by acknowledging their concerns and then present existing evidence from our pilot programs and other studies. I would invite them to collaborate on a demonstration project with shared risk to prove the model. Building relationships with key clinical leaders in the payor organization is crucial to overcoming skepticism.

About Abby Care: Powering the future of care at home for all of America.

Abby Care is building the leading AI-native platform for family-led care. America is facing a growing care crisis. Millions more people need care at home than ever. Over 50 million family caregivers support loved ones without the tools, training, or recognition they deserve.
We believe families are the largest untapped caregiving workforce in America, and that technology can help them deliver better care while driving stronger outcomes and greater transparency across the healthcare system.
Abby Care combines clinical oversight with an AI-powered platform to train, enable, and support family caregivers in delivering high-quality care at home. Our platform helps health plans and government partners better understand, verify, and improve care in the home. We expand access to care, reduce reliance on higher-cost settings, and help ensure public dollars are spent effectively.
We are proud to partner with leading health plans, providers, and community organizations and are backed by top VCs. We envision a future where family-led care is a core part of the healthcare system. Abby Care is building that future.
Join us in solving one of the most important challenges of our time.

The opportunity:

Family caregiving is a clinically underexplored model. The evidence that trained, supported family members can deliver better outcomes than traditional home care exists in fragments. Our job over the next 24 months is to build that evidence, publish it, and turn it into the clinical narrative that wins payor contracts, regulatory trust, and market position.

We are hiring a Chief Medical Officer to be the clinical voice of Abby Care to the outside world. You will own our external clinical strategy, build the outcomes narrative that differentiates us, and serve as the face of the model with payors, health systems, regulators, and the industry. You will have significant latitude to define how Abby Care is perceived clinically and what we stand for and the value we bring.

Reporting directly to the CEO you will partner closely with payor strategy, clinical operations, product, and analytics to shape the Abby Care value proposition and define our place in the care continuum. If you are a clinician who is energized by external work, thinks in narrative, and wants to shape a category, we’d love to talk.

Why this role:

  • The medical face of the company. You are Abby Care’s clinical authority in payor meetings, on conference stages, and in published work. You bring clinical credibility to our work externally, partnering with payors, regulators, and industry leaders to build trust in a new model of care.

  • C-level partnership. Direct reporting to the CEO and close collaboration with the executive team on commercial strategy, expansion, and fundraising.

  • Define the category. Family caregiving as a clinical model is new. You will publish the evidence, shape the conversation, and set the standard.

  • Cross-functional leverage. Work alongside our Heads of Payor Strategy, Product, and Tech to convert clinical outcomes into shorter sales cycles, higher win rates, and stronger rates.

What you’ll work on:

  • Advise the CEO and executive team on clinical strategy, care model evolution, and external positioning

  • Build the Abby Care clinical narrative across pediatrics, adult home health, and senior care, translating the model into language that resonates with plan CMOs, state officials, and clinical audiences

  • Serve as the external clinical face of Abby Care with payors, health systems, state regulators, and industry bodies

  • Own the evidence strategy: partner with analytics and clinical operations to design the outcomes program, then publish results through whitepapers, peer-reviewed work, and industry venues

  • Represent Abby Care at conferences, roundtables, and advisory forums; build the speaking, media, and thought leadership platform

What you’ll have:

  • Physician (MD/DO) with active or recent clinical practice and board certification in a relevant specialty (internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics, palliative care, or adjacent)

  • Existing platform and reputation in home-based care, value-based care, Medicaid, or complex population health. This can come from a prior CMO or senior Medical Director role at a plan, health system, or operator at a digital health company, or from a clinical leadership role with public thought leadership

  • Demonstrated ability to translate clinical outcomes into commercial wins.

  • Strong external presence: published work, conference speaking, payor relationships, media comfort. You get energy from external work, not just internal operations

  • Fluency in how plans measure and value clinical performance: HEDIS, CAHPS, risk adjustment, total cost of care, and value-based arrangement mechanics

  • Comfort with ambiguity and category creation. Family caregiving as a clinical model is not a paved path, and you are excited by that

  • Ability to work closely with commercial, operations, product, and data teams as a connective leader, not a siloed clinician

We are not tied to a specific title or years of experience. What matters is that you bring clinical credibility that translates into commercial outcomes, and that you are energized by building Abby Care’s external clinical voice.

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation packages that reflect the value you bring. We reward our team for the impact of their work.

  • Comprehensive health coverage that works for you. Choose from high-quality medical dental and vision options, including a $0 deductible PPO and a company-funded HSA, alongside employer-paid life and disability insurance.

  • Generous paid time off. We provide policies that allow you to recharge along with 10 paid company holidays.

  • Financial savings benefits to support your future. We support your financial well-being with HSA contributions, optional FSA and commuter benefits, and full coverage of all 401(k) account fees (employer match not currently offered).

  • Paid parental leave to support your growing family. We provide up to 10 weeks of paid parental leave based on tenure, so you can focus on bonding and adjusting to life as your family grows.

  3. Relentlessly Resourceful
As an ambitious startup, we adapt quickly and make the most of limited time and resources. We solve challenges with creativity to deliver results without unnecessary complexity.
