Dear Hiring Team,
I am interested in the International Audio/Video Remote Kunama Interpreter opportunity with Language Services Associates. I offer strong bilingual communication skills in English and Kunama, along with proficiency in Tigrinya or Arabic, and understand the importance of accurate, impartial, and confidential interpretation.
I am comfortable using web-based communication platforms and maintaining a quiet, secure remote workspace while responding promptly to on-demand calls. I would welcome the opportunity to support LEP clients and deliver professional, culturally responsive service.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sample interview questions
I prepare by confirming the language pair, testing my audio/video connection, and ensuring my workspace is private and free from interruptions. During the interaction, I interpret faithfully, avoid adding personal opinions, request clarification when needed, and preserve confidentiality throughout the call.
I use active listening, note-taking when appropriate, and concise clarification requests to manage complex terminology. If a term is unfamiliar or unclear, I ask the speaker to repeat or explain it rather than guessing, so the LEP client receives an accurate interpretation.
I maintain a professional, calm tone and focus on rendering each speaker's message completely and impartially. I recognize that interpreters facilitate communication rather than advocate for either party, while still using culturally appropriate communication practices.
I maintain reliable internet access, a professional headset, a functioning camera, and a backup plan for technical disruptions. Before beginning work, I test the web platform and make sure my workspace meets privacy, security, and noise-control expectations.
I prioritize timely call acceptance, clear communication, and adherence to protocol while managing my availability responsibly. I stay organized, monitor the assigned platform closely, and communicate promptly through the appropriate channel if a technical or scheduling issue affects service.
