Sample interview questions
How would you prioritize competing AI product opportunities for legal professionals?

I would first define the target user problem, expected customer impact, strategic alignment, risk profile, and technical feasibility for each opportunity. I would combine qualitative customer evidence with usage data and use a transparent prioritization framework, then validate assumptions through prototypes or limited releases before committing major engineering capacity.

Describe how you would manage a product backlog for an AI-powered feature with uncertain technical outcomes.

I would structure the backlog around measurable user outcomes and split uncertain work into discovery, experimentation, platform, and delivery items. Each item would include clear acceptance criteria, dependencies, and decision points, while regular grooming with engineering would keep scope realistic as model performance, data quality, or security findings emerge.

How would you ensure an AI capability meets the needs of legal customers while respecting security and governance requirements?

I would involve legal-domain users, security stakeholders, and engineering early to identify permissions, ethical walls, data-handling constraints, and auditability requirements. I would define these as nonfunctional requirements and release criteria, then test workflows against realistic matter and document-access scenarios before broad rollout.

What metrics would you use to evaluate whether a new AI feature is successful?

I would measure adoption, activation, repeat usage, task completion time, quality or accuracy indicators, user satisfaction, and business outcomes such as retention or expansion where appropriate. For AI specifically, I would also monitor failure patterns, override rates, grounded-response quality, and any security or permission-related incidents.

How do you communicate delivery risks and changing priorities to senior leadership and cross-functional teams?

I communicate early using concise, audience-appropriate updates that state the decision needed, customer impact, timeline effect, options, and recommended path. I maintain a visible roadmap and dependency view, align owners on mitigation actions, and ensure teams understand both the rationale for priority changes and the expected outcomes.
