Sample interview questions
How would you conduct technical discovery for a customer considering a Zero Trust security platform?

I would begin by understanding the customer’s business objectives, user populations, applications, data flows, network architecture, security controls, and current pain points. I would validate technical requirements, decision criteria, stakeholders, and success measures, then map the findings to a phased solution and evaluation plan.

Describe how you would structure a proof-of-value evaluation for a cloud security solution.

I would jointly define the business use case, technical scope, owners, timeline, test cases, success criteria, and escalation path before deployment. During the evaluation, I would configure the relevant policies, monitor results, document outcomes, address blockers quickly, and conclude with a results review tied directly to the customer’s agreed objectives.

How do DNS, routing, VPNs, and firewalls relate to troubleshooting a secure-access deployment?

These components determine how users and applications establish and protect connectivity. I would check name resolution, path selection, tunnel status, firewall policy and logging, authentication dependencies, and traffic flow to isolate whether an issue is caused by endpoint configuration, network reachability, policy enforcement, or the application itself.

How do you balance technical accuracy with the need to make a persuasive customer presentation?

I tailor the presentation to the audience and lead with their business and security outcomes rather than product features. I use accurate architecture diagrams, realistic use cases, and focused demonstrations, while being transparent about assumptions, dependencies, and any areas that require validation in an evaluation.

How have you used AI tools to improve your work as a technical professional?

I use AI tools to accelerate research, organize discovery notes, draft technical documentation, generate test-case ideas, and identify questions for deeper validation. I treat AI output as a starting point, verify it against authoritative technical sources and customer context, and protect confidential information in accordance with company policies.
