Sample interview questions
I have supported payroll administration by coordinating accurate employee data, validating payroll inputs, responding to queries, and working with local providers or internal stakeholders to meet country-specific deadlines. I use structured checklists and reconciliation steps to ensure each country’s process is completed accurately and on time.
I validate employee changes against approved documentation, reconcile inputs with HRIS records, review exceptions such as new hires or terminations, and compare totals with prior periods. I document discrepancies, obtain approvals for corrections, and retain an audit trail for each payroll cycle.
I would acknowledge the request quickly, verify the employee’s records and payment history, identify the root cause, and communicate clear next steps and timing. If a correction requires escalation or provider action, I would track it through resolution and keep the employee and relevant stakeholders informed.
I maintain organized, current documentation and reconcile statutory reporting figures to payroll outputs before submission. For audits, I provide complete supporting records, explain controls and reconciliations clearly, and address findings promptly to prevent recurring issues.
I would first protect time-sensitive and high-risk work, especially payroll deadlines, statutory obligations, and employee payment issues. I would allocate tasks based on urgency and team capacity, establish clear ownership and escalation paths, and provide concise status updates to stakeholders.
