I establish a detailed close calendar with clear owners, deadlines, review points, and escalation paths. I monitor reconciliations, journals, and reporting deliverables throughout the close, address exceptions early, and provide management with a concise status and risk summary before final review.
I set measurable SLAs and KPIs, hold regular operating reviews, and ensure responsibilities are documented through clear process maps and control evidence. When issues arise, I focus on root cause, corrective actions, and follow-through rather than simply resolving the immediate exception.
I ensure key controls have defined owners, retained evidence, timely reviews, and documented remediation for exceptions. I also partner closely with auditors and process owners to keep control narratives current as systems, entities, or workflows change.
I would reconcile intercompany positions at entity level, investigate aged or disputed balances quickly, and consolidate expected settlements and funding needs into a rolling quarterly-plus-60-day view. Recommendations would identify timing, currency, liquidity, and approval considerations for senior management.
I prioritize work visibly, define expected outputs and review standards, and use regular check-ins to remove blockers before deadlines are at risk. I combine hands-on coaching with clear accountability so the team member can grow while maintaining reliable delivery.

Reporting to the Manager, International Accounting, the APJ Accounting Manager is responsible for the execution and delivery of APJ accounting operations, ensuring all regional outputs are completed accurately, timely, and in line with SOX and group requirements. This role provides regional leadership across Australia, India, Japan, and Singapore (and future entities), acting as the day-to-day owner of delivery while operating under the direction of the Senior Manager.
What You’ll Do:
1. Close & Financial Reporting Delivery
- Own timely and accurate delivery of APJ month-end close
- Ensure all reconciliations, journals, and schedules meet deadlines
- Present finalised outputs for Senior Manager review and approval
2. Stakeholder & Provider Management
- Act as day-to-day point of contact for senior management and external providers
- Manage outsourced provider performance against SLAs and KPIs
- Resolve issues proactively and escalate where required
3. Statutory & Audit Oversight
- Oversee preparation and submission of statutory financial statements
- Coordinate audits and ensure local compliance requirements are met
- Ensure compliance with local GAAP and regulatory requirements
4. Team Leadership
- Manage APJ Accountant
- Ensure clear prioritisation, accountability, and delivery standards
5. Cash Flow & Intercompany Support
- Consolidate APJ intercompany positions and cash requirements
- Provide forward-looking visibility (quarter + 60 days)
- Prepare recommendations on settlements and funding for Senior Manager review
6. Indirect Tax Oversight
- Review indirect tax returns and supporting workbooks
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely submission via external partners
7. Controls & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure adherence to SOX controls and documentation standards
- Drive process improvements and adoption of systems
