Sample interview questions
I begin by clarifying the commercial objective, customer requirements, and requested deviations from standard policy. I assess pricing, margin, billing, contractual exposure, operational feasibility, and revenue-recognition implications, then engage Finance and Legal early where needed. I present Sales with clear options and trade-offs so the deal can move forward with an appropriately documented approval path.
I use Salesforce and CPQ to validate opportunity data, configure products and pricing, apply approved discounting, generate accurate quotes, and track approvals. I also troubleshoot data or workflow issues with systems teams and use reporting to identify recurring process gaps. Strong CRM hygiene is essential because downstream billing, forecasting, and revenue processes depend on accurate deal records.
I would confirm the customer legal entity, products, quantities, pricing, discount approvals, payment terms, subscription dates, renewal terms, billing cadence, and tax or invoicing requirements. I would also ensure the executed contract matches the quote and that any non-standard terms have required Legal and Finance approvals. Finally, I would verify that all relevant documentation and deal notes are stored in the appropriate systems.
I would acknowledge the deadline, gather the business rationale and customer context, and quickly compare the request with pricing policy, precedent, and approval thresholds. If an exception is reasonable, I would route it through the correct approvers with a concise risk and impact summary. If it cannot be approved as requested, I would propose compliant alternatives that preserve as much customer value and deal momentum as possible.
I would analyze common sources of quote rework, delayed approvals, or billing corrections and quantify their impact. For example, if non-standard terms repeatedly require manual clarification, I would create standardized intake fields, approval guidelines, and a searchable precedent repository. I would measure outcomes such as turnaround time, error rate, exception volume, and stakeholder satisfaction to confirm the improvement is effective.
