Sample interview questions
I begin by mapping the end-to-end decision workflow, measuring approval quality, turnaround time, exception rates, and loss outcomes. I then prioritize changes such as clearer policies, risk segmentation, decision-support tooling, and quality-assurance feedback loops, validating each change against portfolio performance and service-level metrics.
I would first identify high-volume, rules-based tasks with clear quality criteria, such as document triage or data extraction. I would pilot the solution with human review, define error thresholds and escalation paths, monitor fairness and decision quality, and use structured change management to train the team and gather feedback before scaling.
I align stakeholders around risk appetite, expected loss, user impact, and operational capacity. I use segmented controls and measurable guardrails so lower-risk users can receive efficient experiences while higher-risk cases receive deeper review, and I regularly adjust policies based on performance data and emerging trends.
I would communicate the business rationale and desired outcomes early, involve frontline leaders in workflow design, and establish clear milestones and success metrics. During implementation, I would maintain frequent feedback channels, address training gaps quickly, and share performance results so the team understands the impact of the change.
I would track turnaround time, SLA attainment, decision accuracy, quality-audit results, override and exception rates, backlog aging, productivity, customer-impact measures, and downstream portfolio outcomes such as delinquency or loss rates. These metrics should be segmented by product, risk tier, and workflow to identify root causes and guide investments.
