Sample interview questions
How do you approach negotiating a customer-requested change to a standard SaaS agreement?

I first identify the customer’s underlying concern and classify the requested change by legal, commercial, security, and operational risk. I use approved fallback language and playbooks where available, involve the appropriate internal stakeholders for nonstandard issues, and clearly explain trade-offs so the business can make an informed decision quickly.

What steps would you take to improve contract lifecycle management data quality?

I would define required metadata fields, establish clear intake and execution procedures, audit existing records for gaps, and create ownership rules for updating key fields. I would also use reporting and periodic quality checks to identify missing documents, inaccurate terms, and approaching obligations.

How would you prioritize multiple urgent sales requests arriving at the same time?

I would assess each request based on deal stage, revenue significance, customer deadline, risk level, and complexity. I would communicate expected turnaround times early, use standardized resources for routine requests, and escalate blockers or high-risk exceptions promptly to keep critical deals moving.

Describe how you would work with Deal Desk and Finance on a nonstandard commercial term.

I would confirm the proposed term, understand its revenue-recognition and operational implications, and identify whether it creates a legal or policy exception. I would then align on acceptable language and approval requirements, document the final decision, and ensure the executed agreement and contract record accurately reflect the agreed terms.

What are key data privacy issues to consider when reviewing a customer DPA?

I would review the parties’ roles, processing instructions, categories of personal data, security obligations, subprocessors, international transfer mechanisms, audit rights, breach-notification requirements, retention, and deletion commitments. I would ensure the DPA is consistent with the company’s security posture, product capabilities, and applicable privacy laws.
