Sample interview questions
How would you identify a customer who is underutilizing Shopmonkey Payments?

I would review payment-volume trends, product-usage data, transaction mix, current processing workflows, and CRM history to prioritize accounts with clear adoption gaps. I would then validate the opportunity through discovery questions about their operational process, costs, customer-payment experience, and business goals.

Describe how you would handle a customer who says switching payment processors is too disruptive.

I would acknowledge the concern and understand the specific source of disruption, such as setup time, equipment, staff training, or perceived risk. Then I would connect the relevant Shopmonkey Payments capabilities to their workflow, outline a practical transition plan, and confirm the next low-friction step rather than pushing for an immediate commitment.

What would you examine when conducting a payment-processing rate analysis?

I would compare effective rates, interchange and markup structure, transaction types, card-not-present versus in-person mix, monthly fees, equipment costs, chargeback exposure, and any contract constraints. I would present the findings in plain language and focus on the total operational and financial value, not simply a headline rate.

How do you manage activity targets while maintaining a high-quality customer experience?

I use a structured cadence with prioritized account lists, clear call objectives, timely CRM documentation, and scheduled follow-ups. Quality comes from researching the account, asking relevant discovery questions, and recording actionable next steps so outreach remains helpful and consistent at scale.

Tell us about a time you turned feedback into improved performance.

After receiving feedback that my discovery calls moved too quickly into solutioning, I began using a consistent question framework to better understand the customer’s current workflow and desired outcome. This improved the relevance of my recommendations, strengthened trust, and led to more productive follow-up conversations.
