Sample interview questions
I would begin by aligning the governance operating model to the agency mission, data owners, and applicable controls such as FedRAMP and FISMA. I would facilitate workshops to define critical data domains, stewardship roles, cataloging standards, quality rules, and measurable adoption outcomes, then implement an incremental roadmap with governance checkpoints and knowledge transfer.
I would review the statement of work, delivery plan, utilization, milestones, stakeholder feedback, technical blockers, and change requests to isolate the root causes. I would then establish a jointly owned recovery plan with clear actions, owners, dates, executive communication, and escalation paths, while coordinating with sales, support, and technical teams to protect customer outcomes.
For executives, I would focus on mission outcomes: trusted data, faster decision-making, reduced compliance risk, and greater accountability. For technical teams, I would demonstrate practical capabilities such as metadata harvesting, lineage, workflow, stewardship, policy enforcement, APIs, and integration with existing data platforms.
I would prepare by understanding the agency’s mission, systems, security constraints, stakeholders, and desired business outcomes. During the workshop, I would use structured discovery to document current state, target architecture, data domains, integrations, roles, controls, success metrics, risks, and phased deliverables, then validate the resulting blueprint with both business and IT owners.
I use capacity planning, skills-based staffing, transparent forecasting, and regular delivery-health reviews to make utilization sustainable rather than reactive. I also reserve time for coaching, reusable playbooks, and process improvements because stronger delivery practices improve both customer outcomes and long-term utilization.
