Sample interview questions
I would begin with a structured transition plan covering scope validation, stakeholder mapping, staffing, governance, risks, deliverables, and key milestones. I would conduct a technical kickoff with the customer and internal teams, establish reporting and quality-control routines, and track readiness against a 60–90-day plan. Before handoff, I would confirm that documentation, performance metrics, escalation paths, and operational ownership are fully in place.
I maintain a risk register that identifies probability, impact, ownership, mitigation actions, triggers, and review dates. I review risks regularly with delivery and customer stakeholders, escalate material issues early, and connect mitigation actions to schedule, staffing, quality, and contractual requirements. This creates transparency and enables corrective action before risks become performance issues.
I would provide delivery-focused input on technical feasibility, staffing models, transition assumptions, delivery risks, pricing considerations, and operational dependencies. My role would be to ensure proposed solutions are executable and aligned with contract realities. This helps the business-development team present credible plans that improve win probability and post-award performance.
I first clarify mission impact, contractual deadlines, customer commitments, and dependencies, then prioritize work accordingly. I create a concise action plan with owners and decision points, communicate tradeoffs early, and use regular status reviews to adjust as conditions change. This keeps teams focused while ensuring urgent issues receive appropriate attention.
I establish clear communication norms, provide accurate and timely status information, and follow through consistently on commitments. I seek to understand the customer’s mission, constraints, and success measures while maintaining appropriate contractual boundaries. By proactively raising risks, presenting practical options, and documenting decisions, I build trust and support productive collaboration.
