Sample interview questions
In my previous clinical research work, I supported oncology studies by conducting site monitoring activities, reviewing source documentation and essential documents, tracking protocol compliance, and partnering with site staff to resolve issues promptly. I understand the importance of accurate safety reporting, data quality, and timely escalation in this patient population.
I review the protocol, monitoring plan, prior visit reports, outstanding action items, enrollment status, and data queries before the visit. During the visit, I verify informed consent, source data, investigational product accountability where applicable, regulatory documentation, and protocol adherence, then document findings and agree on clear follow-up actions with the site.
I noticed that a site's delayed data entry was beginning to affect query resolution and visit readiness. I discussed the root cause with the coordinator, agreed on a prioritized data-cleaning plan, set interim checkpoints, and escalated appropriately to the study team. The site returned to expected timelines while maintaining data quality.
I first listen carefully to understand the site's concerns and distinguish operational constraints from compliance requirements. I communicate the rationale and patient or data-quality impact, propose practical options within the protocol and SOPs, and document agreed actions. If needed, I involve the appropriate project or line-management partners early and professionally.
I use a structured planning system that prioritizes subject safety, visit schedules, critical deadlines, and outstanding site actions. I reserve time for report completion and follow-up immediately after visits, keep stakeholders updated on risks and timelines, and regularly reassess priorities as study needs change.
