Sample interview questions
I begin by mapping each legal requirement to the relevant servicing workflow, owner, control, customer communication, and evidence-retention requirement. I then work with operations and compliance to test the process, train stakeholders, and monitor exceptions so that the policy is workable as well as legally sound.
I evaluate the proposed program against applicable federal and state requirements, investor obligations, consumer-impact risks, and operational feasibility. I provide a clear risk assessment and recommended controls, then help document decisioning criteria, notices, escalation paths, and monitoring metrics.
I would promptly preserve relevant records, coordinate a fact investigation with servicing and compliance teams, and assess the issue against applicable law and company policy. I would ensure the response is accurate, timely, customer-focused, and supported by documentation, while identifying any needed remediation or broader control improvements.
I focus on regulatory compliance obligations, audit and oversight rights, licensing, data security, complaint handling, subcontractor controls, indemnification, service standards, record retention, and termination rights. I also ensure the agreement gives the company sufficient visibility and control to manage third-party conduct risk.
I identify the governing rules, enforcement trends, and the specific consumer and operational risks created by the proposed use case. Where certainty is limited, I clearly distinguish legal requirements from risk-based recommendations and propose practical safeguards, testing, documentation, and governance that allow the business to proceed responsibly.
