Sample interview questions
I start with ICP segmentation and account prioritization based on growth signals, strategic fit, and likely payment or infrastructure complexity. I map executive and technical stakeholders, develop account-specific hypotheses, and use coordinated outreach across email, phone, networking, and relevant events. I inspect conversion data weekly to refine messages and focus effort on the accounts with the strongest engagement and business case.
I establish mutual success criteria and a stakeholder map early, documenting each party’s priorities, influence, and decision role. I run structured discovery across business and technical requirements, align internal specialists to the customer’s evaluation process, and maintain a joint action plan with clear owners and dates. This prevents single-threading and keeps procurement discussions connected to the quantified business value.
I begin with the customer’s strategic objective, such as international expansion, improved authorization rates, or reduced operational complexity. I then connect the relevant platform capability to measurable outcomes such as revenue lift, faster market entry, lower engineering effort, or better risk management. For executive audiences, I lead with the commercial impact and use technical detail only to demonstrate credibility and feasibility.
I would avoid positioning the conversation as a forced replacement and instead explore gaps in the current setup, future growth plans, and the cost of maintaining the status quo. I would build a differentiated case around outcomes such as geographic expansion, payment performance, integration efficiency, or new monetization opportunities. If the fit is real, I would propose a low-risk evaluation path with measurable success metrics and the right technical stakeholders involved.
I prepare by understanding the customer’s decision criteria, alternatives, projected value, and internal approval process before discussing concessions. I anchor the conversation in the business outcomes and make any trade-offs conditional on reciprocal commitments, such as term length, volume, scope, or implementation milestones. I also involve internal finance, legal, and leadership early so the final proposal remains commercially sound and executable.
