Sample interview questions
I would evaluate carrier density, route diversity, long-haul and metro fiber availability, physical entry options, right-of-way constraints, latency requirements, capacity scalability, and commercial feasibility. I would document risks and compare dark-fiber, wavelength, and managed optical options before making a recommendation.
I begin with diverse physical routes and identify failure-domain separation from the public network through manholes, conduits, building entry points, and internal access panels. I validate constructability with civil and facilities teams, ensure adequate duct capacity for future growth, and maintain accurate as-built documentation.
I assess route diversity, fiber ownership, term length, renewal rights, maintenance responsibilities, service-level commitments, construction milestones, access rights, upgrade options, and total lifecycle cost. I work closely with procurement and legal to align technical requirements with contractual protections.
I establish a shared delivery plan with clear dependencies, owners, dates, decision criteria, and escalation paths. I use regular risk reviews and concise status reporting to surface blockers early, while translating technical trade-offs into schedule, cost, and resiliency impacts for stakeholders.
I use GIS data and KMZ/KML files to analyze routes, site proximity, carrier assets, and physical constraints. In AutoCAD, I review or create conduit, manhole, site-entry, and room-layout drawings, ensuring designs are coordinated with construction plans and accurately reflected in deployment records.
