Sample interview questions
I begin by clarifying the operational objective, identifying the material legal and employee-relations risks, and presenting practical options with clear trade-offs. I recommend the lowest-risk path that still enables the business to meet its goals, escalating only when the residual risk is significant.
I promptly preserve relevant information, define the scope, assess privilege considerations, and conduct impartial interviews using a structured plan. I document findings carefully, coordinate with HR and other appropriate stakeholders, and recommend consistent, legally defensible corrective action.
I would prioritize risk areas based on workforce footprint and business activity, maintain jurisdictional guidance and decision trees, and develop scalable playbooks for recurring issues. Regular training and a close partnership with People Operations would help ensure processes remain current as laws and headcount change.
Key considerations include discrimination and disparate-impact risk, privacy, notice and consent obligations, background-check requirements, data governance, explainability, and appropriate human review. I would evaluate each use case, establish controls, and monitor legal developments across applicable jurisdictions.
I use clear, plain language focused on the business impact, the specific risk, and actionable next steps. I avoid unnecessary legal jargon, explain why a recommendation matters, and stay collaborative so stakeholders can make informed decisions.
