Sample interview questions
How would you tailor a Jamf product demonstration for a public-sector customer with strict security and compliance requirements?

I would begin with discovery to understand the customer’s device estate, identity environment, security controls, user groups, and compliance priorities. I would then build a role-relevant demonstration around secure enrollment, configuration profiles, policy automation, endpoint protection, reporting, and operational outcomes rather than presenting every feature. I would validate technical fit, document open risks, and propose a focused proof of concept with measurable success criteria.

Describe how you explain a complex MDM or endpoint-security topic to both an IT administrator and a nontechnical executive.

For an IT administrator, I would discuss architecture, deployment workflows, integrations, policy controls, and troubleshooting considerations. For an executive, I would translate the same capabilities into reduced risk, faster device deployment, lower support effort, and a better employee or student experience. I confirm understanding by asking each audience what decision they need to make and adapting the level of detail accordingly.

How do you manage a proof-of-concept engagement from initial request through decision?

I establish the business problem, technical scope, stakeholders, timeline, responsibilities, and objective success metrics before the trial begins. During the POC, I provide enablement, monitor progress, resolve blockers quickly, and keep the account team informed through documented checkpoints. At the end, I lead a results review that connects validated outcomes to the customer’s buying criteria and agreed next steps.

What would you do if a customer asks a technical question during a live demo that you cannot answer confidently?

I would be transparent that I want to verify the answer rather than speculate, then clarify the customer’s underlying use case and capture the question precisely. Where possible, I would offer a related capability or a safe demonstration path, and I would follow up promptly with a validated answer from documentation or internal subject-matter experts. This protects trust while demonstrating sound technical judgment.

How would you build productive relationships with channel partners while supporting direct sales opportunities?

I would align early on account ownership, partner capabilities, opportunity goals, and mutual expectations. I would provide practical technical enablement, co-deliver discovery and demonstrations when appropriate, and share relevant product updates and positioning guidance. Consistent communication, clear CRM documentation, and a focus on the customer’s outcome help create trust without creating channel conflict.

What you’ll do at Jamf:

At Jamf, we empower people to be their best selves and do their best work.

As a Sales Engineer, you’ll be the technical voice in the room – running demos, answering the hard questions, and helping Key Account Managers and Regional Sales Managers turn opportunities into wins across Public Sector, Healthcare, and Education.

You won’t be handed a script. This role comes with real autonomy: you’ll decide how to position Jamf Pro, Jamf Protect, Jamf Connect, Jamf School and Jamf Mobile Forensics for the customer in front of you, build your own relationships with channel partners, and shape how AI-driven tools fit into the customer experience you’re creating. Nobody expects you to be fluent in every product on day one – we’re looking for someone who’s fluid, curious, and ready to grow into the full portfolio.

You’ll join a Sales Engineering team that takes the work seriously and each other less so. Expect a genuinely fun group of people, strong support for your development, and a customer base that makes the work worth doing.

What you can expect to do in this role:

  • Run live and virtual product demos, tailored to the customer’s environment, not a generic script.
  • Become the go-to technical person for your accounts and channel partners – the one people trust to give a straight answer.
  • Recommend Jamf-based solutions that solve real business and technical problems, not just check boxes.
  • Support proof-of-concept projects and trials, seeing them through to a decision.
  • Sit down with channel partners’ technical teams to walk through new Jamf products and how to position them well on live opportunities.
  • Take the stage at trade shows, conferences, and industry events to represent Jamf.
  • Run enablement sessions and technical training for partners and internal teams.
  • Team up with marketing to create content – think LinkedIn, YouTube, and webinars – that helps customers understand what’s possible.
  • Keep account activity, technical engagement, and sales progress current in the CRM.
  • Bring technical insight to regional sales meetings and help shape strategy, not just execute it.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key regional partners over time.
  • Help teammates stay current by sharing updated technical materials and best practices.

What are we looking for:

  • 3–4 years in sales engineering, technical consultancy, or a similar customer-facing technical role.
  • Fluent in both English and German language
  • Solid grounding in Mobile Device Management, Apple in the enterprise, or network-level cybersecurity – you don’t need to know every Jamf product yet, but you should be comfortable learning fast across a broad portfolio.
  • Jamf 300 or 400 certification is a plus.
  • A cybersecurity certification (Cybersecurity Fundamentals or similar) is a plus.
  • The independence to manage a field-based role well, balanced with genuine collaboration – you’ll work closely with sales, marketing, product, and global enablement teams.
  • The ability to take a complex technical topic and make it click for whoever’s in front of you, whether that’s an IT director or a room at a conference.
  • A remote setup with up to 50% travel across EMEIA for customer sites, events, and internal meetings.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • A combination of relevant experience and education may be considered
