Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to express my strong interest in the Energy Manager, Transmission position at Meta. With a background in power systems engineering and experience managing complex transmission projects, I am excited about the opportunity to support Meta's data center energy strategy. My expertise in power flow studies and stakeholder engagement aligns perfectly with the responsibilities outlined.

In my previous role, I successfully led negotiations for transmission interconnection agreements and optimized project delivery processes, resulting in significant cost savings. I am adept at analyzing large datasets and developing planning scenarios to inform strategic decisions. I thrive in fast-paced environments and am comfortable navigating ambiguity to drive projects forward.

I am particularly drawn to Meta's commitment to innovation and sustainability, and I am eager to contribute to the development of cost-effective energy solutions for your growing fleet of data centers. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the possibility of discussing how my skills can benefit Meta.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Describe your experience with power flow studies and how you have used them to inform transmission investment decisions.
I have conducted steady-state and contingency analyses using PSS/E to assess system reliability. In one project, I identified voltage stability issues that led to a $2M investment in reactive power support, improving grid resilience.
How do you approach negotiating transmission agreements with utilities? Provide an example.
I focus on understanding both parties' priorities. For example, I negotiated a cost allocation framework that saved my company $500k annually by aligning interconnection costs with project benefits.
How do you manage multiple complex projects concurrently?
I use a prioritization matrix and regular syncs with stakeholders. For instance, I managed five transmission projects simultaneously by setting clear milestones and delegating tasks to cross-functional teams.
Explain a time you had to navigate ambiguity in a project. How did you drive it forward?
During a regulatory change, I created a scenario analysis that allowed us to adapt our strategy, keeping the project on schedule despite uncertainty. I engaged with legal and engineering to develop a flexible plan.
How do you stay updated on changes in transmission planning and energy markets?
I follow FERC orders, attend industry conferences like IEEE PES, and participate in working groups. Recently, I implemented new planning scenarios based on evolving renewable energy mandates.
