Counselling EAP Solution-Focused Therapy Risk Assessment Remote Work Clinical Supervision Telehealth Mental Health BACP Case Management

I am excited to apply for the Counsellor position at TELUS Health, as your commitment to empowering individuals aligns with my passion for providing accessible mental health support.

With over 3 years of post-qualifying experience and BACP accreditation, I have honed my skills in short-term, solution-focused counselling via telephone and video platforms.

I possess strong clinical judgment in risk assessment and am adept at maintaining detailed case notes while meeting KPIs.

I am eager to contribute to your EAP team and help clients build resilience. Thank you for considering my application.

Describe your experience with short-term, solution-focused counselling models.
I have used solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) for 5 years, helping clients identify goals and strengths in 6-8 sessions. I focus on scaling questions and exception-finding to promote rapid progress.
How do you handle risk situations such as suicide or self-harm during a remote session?
I follow a structured risk assessment protocol, including asking direct questions, assessing intent and means, and creating a safety plan. I involve emergency contacts or services if needed, and document thoroughly.
Can you provide an example of how you managed a challenging client interaction?
A client was resistant to change; I used motivational interviewing to explore ambivalence and built rapport by validating their feelings. We set small, achievable goals, which gradually increased their engagement.
How do you ensure you meet clinical KPIs while maintaining quality care?
I prioritize time management and use templates for notes. I track my session numbers and outcomes weekly, adjusting my approach if needed. I also seek supervision to ensure quality.
What experience do you have with remote counselling technologies?
I have used Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and proprietary EAP platforms for video sessions. I ensure a stable internet connection, maintain professional boundaries, and troubleshoot technical issues calmly.
