Sample interview questions
How do you build a strategy for a complex strategic account?

I begin by researching the customer’s business model, growth priorities, payments stack, stakeholders, and likely pain points. I map decision-makers, champions, technical evaluators, and economic buyers, then create a mutual action plan with clear value hypotheses, milestones, risks, and next steps.

Describe how you run discovery with both technical and executive stakeholders.

I tailor discovery to each audience while maintaining one shared business case. With technical stakeholders, I explore architecture, integration requirements, risk, and operational constraints; with executives, I focus on strategic outcomes, financial impact, growth, and decision criteria.

How would you position Paddle against an existing payments provider?

I would avoid leading with a generic feature comparison and first validate the customer’s current operational and commercial friction. I would then connect Paddle’s Merchant of Record model to relevant outcomes such as reduced payment complexity, compliance burden, global expansion support, and improved focus on the core product.

What do you do when a deal stalls late in the sales cycle?

I diagnose whether the blocker is value, authority, urgency, technical risk, procurement, or competition rather than simply increasing follow-up. I re-establish the mutual plan, bring in the right internal experts, confirm the economic impact of delay, and agree on a specific path to a decision with the customer.

How do you balance self-sourced pipeline with leads from BDR and marketing teams?

I maintain clear target-account priorities and use a coordinated account plan so each channel reinforces the others. I review conversion data regularly, give BDRs and marketing actionable feedback on messaging and account signals, and reserve focused time for executive outreach and self-generated opportunities.
