Sample interview questions
How would you identify and prioritize expansion opportunities across an existing account portfolio?

I would segment accounts using product usage, customer outcomes, renewal timing, stakeholder engagement, revenue potential, and risk indicators. I would then build account plans for the highest-potential customers, validate needs through discovery conversations, and coordinate a value-based expansion motion with Sales.

Describe your approach to a customer whose usage has declined ahead of renewal.

I would first review usage, support history, implementation context, and stakeholder changes to form a fact-based hypothesis. I would schedule a customer conversation focused on their business goals and obstacles, create a recovery plan with clear owners and milestones, and communicate progress internally until adoption and renewal health improve.

How do you balance customer advocacy with revenue-growth expectations?

I treat growth as a result of helping customers achieve measurable value. I only recommend additional products, features, or capacity when they solve a verified customer need, and I clearly connect the recommendation to outcomes such as efficiency, adoption, compliance, or workflow improvement.

How have you used CRM data to improve account outcomes?

I have used CRM data to track renewal dates, engagement, product adoption signals, opportunity stages, and account risk. Consistent reporting helps me prioritize outreach, forecast renewals and expansion, identify trends across the portfolio, and make account decisions supported by evidence.

How would you explain a technical API integration issue to a nontechnical customer stakeholder?

I would avoid unnecessary technical jargon and explain the business impact, current status, next steps, owner, and expected timeline. I would provide regular concise updates, translate technical dependencies into clear decisions, and ensure the stakeholder understands how the resolution supports their workflow goals.
