Sample interview questions
I would identify the transaction’s economic substance, research relevant authoritative guidance and analogous accounting literature, assess viable alternatives, and document a conclusion with a clear rationale. I would involve appropriate stakeholders and auditors early, then translate the conclusion into operational controls, entries, and disclosures.
I begin by understanding the contractual terms, performance obligations, pricing, billing, and data flows. I evaluate the arrangement under ASC 606, document the key judgments and conclusions, quantify the accounting impact, and align implementation requirements with Legal, FP&A, billing, and accounting operations.
I would ensure controls over grant authorization, accurate setup in the equity platform, completeness of grant data, valuation assumptions, expense calculations, journal entries, reconciliations, and disclosure support. I would also maintain a review process for modifications, forfeitures, and non-routine equity events.
I prioritize work based on reporting risk, materiality, and dependencies, then build a detailed timeline with clear owners and review points. I communicate risks early, standardize recurring support where possible, and reserve focused time for high-judgment items and final tie-outs.
I would start with the business impact and use plain language to explain the underlying principle, decision, and required actions. I would avoid unnecessary technical detail while providing enough context for stakeholders to understand timing, financial-statement effects, and any operational changes needed.

- Assist in preparation and tie out of Proxy disclosures
- Collaborate with Legal, FP&A, and business teams on new contracts and billing structures.
